Danni and Paul’s engagement session is one of my favorite for 2 reasons. First, Danni is my cousin who is more like a sister and Paul is just the perfect guy for her. Second, it was in Colorado, one of the most beautiful places on earth! When Danni and Paul moved out to Colorado over 2 years ago we started planning my trip to Colorado to shoot her engagement pictures. We didn’t know it would take 2 years (hahaha sorry Paul!) but the wait was totally worth it! Paul proposed to Danni on a 3 day hiking trip they went on together (nothing new for them). It was cold and snow covered the ground. Paul had planned to propose during this hike but the conditions made Danni’s mood not very favorable for a proposal. They were turing back to come home because it was just too cold and snowy. Paul was thinking about not purposing but then he came across the perfect location and he looked down and found a horse shoe in the snow! A horse shoe! Next thing he knew he was down on one knee asking Danni to be his wife and she said yes!!!
I flew out to Colorado in September to spend time with Danni and Paul and to shoot their engagement sessions. Danni and Paul are flying back to Maryland (Danni’s home town) to get married in June but wanted to do their engagement pictures in the place they live now. Danni picked out 3 beautiful location for engagement sessions. Paul might have made the comment a few times that this was not usual and it isn’t but when I fly to Colorado to take one of my favorite people’s engagement photos we are going all out.
The first location was Estse Park! This was such a beautiful location! Danni took us to bear lake where we walked around the lake to different locations. The Aspen where changing colors and made for the perfect fall colors for their session. After we made it around the lake we headed to the top of Estse Park right after the sun set. It was so gorgeous at the top of the mountain that I had to take another picture of the couple from the very top!
For our second location Danni choose Red Rocks. We were here around 10:00am and the sun was bright so we had to pick locations that had shade. The two we found were perfect! Maisy, the couple’s great dane, even joined us for some photos here!
For our third and final location we when to Hanging Lake in Glenwood Springs! I remember when Danni posted pictures of this beautiful waterfall and I told her we had to do her engagement pictures there. Little did I know it was over a 1 mile hike straight up a mountain (we were on the edge of a cliff at one point haha) and that I would be dizzy and nauseas from the altitude the whole way up. But we made it and I am so glad we did because it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been!
